Peyronie's disease is an often painful disease that causes the penis to curve unnaturally, often creating an inability to perform in sexual situations. The curvature is caused by a buildup of plaque or formation of scar tissue that doesn't allow the penis to expand evenly when it is aroused. It can often be corrected through a variety of methods. While there is no specific medication available to treat the condition, various exercises, natural and alternative treatments and approaches to the condition may alleviate symptoms and provide mental and physical relief for those afflicted with Peyronie's disease.

Herbs

Taking a variety of herbs and vitamins and mineral supplements often provides benefits for those suffering from a curved penis. Nutritional supplements especially designed for men should contain vitamins A, B and E, as well as the antioxidant acetyl-L-carnitine. Individuals diagnosed with Peyronie's may also find benefits in using herbs that help heal and maintain function of connective tissues such as gotu kola, bromelain and beta-carotene.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a thousand-year old practice that involves the use of long, thin needles inserted in various locations on the surface..

Shock Wave Therapy

Shock wave therapy has been used to treat some individuals diagnosed with varying degrees or severity of Peyronie's disease. Some hospitals offer this relatively new treatment with promising results. Shock wave therapy is effective in the treatment of muscular and skeletal conditions and increases blood flow into affected area. The outpatient treatment generates short bursts or waves of energy that travel at great speed, and is commonly used today to break up kidney stones without surgical intervention.
