Curling straight hair is a beautiful way to change up your look, but hair that is thin will usually fall flat before the day is through. If you have trouble getting your hair to curl, and an even more difficult time keeping your curls in for more than a few minutes, try some sure-fire ways to keep your hair curly all day long.
Step 1
Wash your hair. Hair that is damp will take curl better than dry hair, especially for those with limp locks.
Step 2
Blot your hair dry with a towel. Hair that is sopping wet won't dry in the rollers, even overnight, so blot your hair carefully to remove excess water without creating tangles.
Step 3
Cut a rag into strips. Roll your hair around a strip of rag, tightly if you want tight ringlets, and looser if you would like loose waves. Tie together the ends of each strip.
Step 4
Dry your hair completely using a hair dryer or an overhead dryer. The higher heat you use, the longer your curl will last.
Step 5
Spray your hair with a finishing spray, which you can buy at hair supply stores and hair salons. If you can't find finishing spray, regular hairspray will do.
Step 6
Allow your hair to cool completely before taking out the rags. Gently remove the rags from your hair. Separate the curls, if desired, to make them look more natural.
Tips and Warnings
- To avoid damaging hair, keep it in rags overnight rather than blow drying it.
