Overview

Your glasses are important for reading, protecting your eyes or correcting your vision. Sometimes, the eyeglass lenses can get damaged or scratched due to sitting or dropping them. Or, sometimes the screws come loose, and your lens falls out. Knowing how to repair your lenses is an important part of eyeglass maintenance. Fortunately, you can easily replace your eyeglass lenses.

Step 1

Purchase an eyeglass repair kit if you don't have one. These kits have tiny screwdrivers, nose pads, polish cloth and screws. Select a screwdriver from your kit that can fit into the screws on the frame area of your glasses.

Step 2

Hold your eyeglasses a few inches away from the table and unscrew the screws on the eyeglass frame hinges that hold each lens. This will prevent the tiny screws from rolling onto the floor. Carefully and gently push out the old lens, remove the screws and place them somewhere safe where you can see them until you need them again.

Step 3

Slide and push the new lens carefully into each eye frame, paying careful attention to the orientation and direction of the lens. Make sure the lens fit securely in the frames. Insert the screws back into the frame hinges with the screwdriver.

Step 4

Hold your glasses by the frame, making sure the lens are securely fastened in place, and tighten the screws with the screwdriver. Gently push the lens outward to check if they are securely fastened. If not, simply push the lens back in and retighten. Wipe the lens with a polish cloth before wearing them.
