The Power Rider is a home exercise machine that was sold through infomercials by Guthy-Renker and is no longer on the market. The machine utilizes no weights or internal form of resistance. The rider's body weight provides external resistance and is what the rider moves throughout the full range of movement. The Power Rider features a seat connected to foot pedals, and handle bars and is designed to provide a full-body cardiovascular workout.

Step 1

Sit on the Power Rider seat, facing the handle bar and place both feet firmly on the floor.

Step 2

Grasp the handle bar with both hands.

Step 3

Pull the handle bar toward your torso while lifting one foot of the ground and placing it on the foot pedal. Repeat with the other foot.

Step 4

Push the handle bar away from you until your arms are fully extended. This motion will move the foot pedals in the opposite direction, toward your body.

Step 5

Repeating the back and forth motion, pushing and pulling, for a set time based on your fitness goals.

Tips and Warnings

  • The Power Rider is designed to be a steady state aerobic machine so exercise for time at a comfortable pace where it is not easy to carry a conversation but it is not hard enough where you can't catch your breath. Start with a 20-minute session, three times a week and work your way up to 60 minutes four times a week.
  • Consult with your physician before starting an exercise program, particularly if you have any cardiac issues or injuries.
