Salon keratin treatments are done to tame frizzy and unmanageable hair. A keratin-infused serum is applied to the hair and then sealed in with the use of a flat iron. For several months, the hair will appear smoother and shinier. To prolong results, you should purchase after-keratin-treatment products to use on your hair.

Stabilizing Spray

A stabilizing spray is used to prevent the hair from losing the keratin that has been infused into the strands during treatment. Immediately after receiving the treatment, spritz the hair with the product. Only use a light mist; the hair should not be saturated. After allowing the solution to sit for five minutes, you may style as usual. One example of this type of spray is Salon Favorite Keratin Extend Stabilizing Spray. You can use the spray along with the Salon Favorite keratin after-care shampoo and conditioner. Other stabilizing spray brands for keratin-treated hair include Re+5 Keratin Extend Stabilizing Spray and Colornow Cosmetics Keratin Stabilizing Spray.

Sulfate-Free Shampoos

Sulfates can be damaging to keratin-treated hair. Sulfate-free shampoos include Keratin Cure Chocolate Max Post Treatment Sulfate Free Shampoo, L'Oreal Everstrong Sulfate Free and Keratin Complex by Coppola Keratin Care Shampoo. The shampoos are made with a blend of silicones and vitamins which will extend the effect of the keratin treatment by sealing the cuticle. To use, massage the shampoo into your hair and rinse out completely. You may use the products daily following your keratin treatment.

After-Keratin Conditioners

La-Brasiliana After Keratin Treatment Conditioner, Rejuvenol Keratin After Treatment Conditioner and Keratin Complex Care Conditioner are some examples of after-treatment conditioners. The conditioners for after-keratin use are sodium free and can seal in the keratin and collagen applied during the treatment process. Apply the conditioner after shampooing and allow it to sit for one minute before rinsing. After-care keratin shampoos are typically available from the same manufacturers as well and both products can be used daily.
