Warts on your face can be an embarrassing experience. Warts are skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus, or HPV, according to Mayo Clinic. Covering warts with makeup or bandages can make them even more obvious. Cryotherapy, or freezing warts, helps to form a blister around the area to dry out the wart so you can scrape it away. You can freeze facial warts with an at-home kit or by paying a visit to your doctor.
Step 1
Clean the affected area thoroughly with an antibacterial soap. Disinfect with rubbing alcohol to prepare the area.
Step 2
Follow the directions of your at-home cryotherapy kit. Generally, you need to soak the applicator in the freezing solution for 15 seconds.
Step 3
Apply the applicator to the facial wart for 10 seconds. Remove the applicator and reapply three times until the wart begins to look dry.
Step 4
Gently wash the area with antibacterial soap to remove the wart. Do not scrub the area; that may break the skin.
Step 5
Apply ointment to the area and cover with a bandage. Allow the area to heal for about one week.
Step 6
Visit your doctor if at-home freezing doesn't work. Talk to your physician about using liquid nitrogen therapy to remove facial warts. Ask questions about the nature of the procedure and how to prepare.
