Trampolines give you a great workout. Whether you use a mini trampoline, also called a rebounder, or a backyard trampoline, you will burn calories and receive multiple benefits. Trampolines are low-impact, so almost anyone can use them. Just realize that if you allow others to use your trampoline, you are liable for any injuries, even if they sneak into your backyard without your permission.

Significance

Jumping on a trampoline is fun way to burn calories, train your cardio-respiratory system and work the muscles of your core. The mini trampoline is easily stored in a closet or out of the way for convenient at home use. They are inexpensive and fun, so there is no excuse not to use one. The trampoline's shocks also absorb the impact of your landing, making it less stressful on your joints than sports or running.

Benefits

Using the trampoline burns more calories per hour than running at a moderate pace, yet it is less harmful on your joints, doesn't require expensive running shoes, and isn't dependent on decent weather. Jumping on the trampoline also gives you normal exercise benefits like mood elevation, improved sleep, better looking skin, a lower resting heart rate, faster metabolism and increased bone mass.

Considerations

The trampoline is an especially effective form of exercise because it forces your body to balance and stabilize differently every time you land. Unlike walking on a flat surface or using a cardio machine where the movement is repetitive and always affects the joints and muscles the same way, the trampoline forces you to shift your body weight to accommodate for a changing center of gravity as you land and take off in a different position each time. This will also improve your balance and coordination.

Other Physical Benefits

Another benefit to the trampoline is that rate of flow of lymph through your lymphatic system increases. This will have a positive cleansing effect throughout your body. You will feel more energized and an increase in vitality. The jumping can also have a stimulating and strengthening effect on your internal organs.

Warning

Around 75,000 children taken to the emergency room every year because of a trampoline injuries, according to the NECN.com. Homeowners insurance call them "attractive nuisances" and warn customers about liability. Adults also can get hurt on trampolines. Falling off can result in broken arms and legs. Mini-trampolines are less dangerous. If you have a larger trampoline in your yard, put up a safety net and fence in your yard so neighborhood children won't be tempted to try it without your knowledge.
