Hair has a tendency to fall out or become thin as time passes, especially on men. According to Dr. Zhuang-Guang Zhao, hair loss occurs when the hair follicles do not receive sufficient blood circulation, which causes the follicle to overproduce sebum and stop producing hair cells. By stimulating the scalp and removing the sebum, scalp circulation will be improved and the hair follicles will begin to produce hair cells again.
Step 1
Stimulate the scalp using a prong-style hairbrush. Massage your scalp with the brush by applying pressure and moving it in a circular pattern. Start on one side of your head and move the brush in this fashion around to the other side, effectively massaging the entire scalp. Focus on the areas that are the thinnest or are losing the most hair. Massage your scalp once per day for five to ten minutes each session. Scalp stimulation will encourage blood to flow into the hair follicles, promoting new hair growth.
Step 2
Clean your scalp with a hydrating, cleansing shampoo. Removing dead skin and sebum from the scalp helps prevent hair follicles from becoming clogged and blocked. Use a clarifying shampoo that will remove excess oil from your scalp, and vigorously massage the shampoo into your hair. Rinse your hair and scalp with warm-to-hot water. Repeat the process a second time.
Step 3
Stimulate your scalp with vibrations. When the skin is vibrated, it encourages blood to flow into that area. Choose a vibrating massager that is small and will fit in the palm of your hand. Place the vibrating massager on your scalp for five to ten minutes. Vibrate the scalp once per day to increase hair growth in the follicles.
