Numerous chronic diseases, including aging, have been linked with oxidant, or free radical damage to cells. The Alabama Cooperative Extension System notes that antioxidants may fight this damage, possibly even stop it. Antioxidants are vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and enzymes. They include vitamins C and E, glutathione, coenzyme Q, beta-carotene, lycopene and polyphenols. Antioxidants are contained in many vegetables and fruits, with some having much higher concentrations than others.

Pomegranate Juice

Thomas Behrenbeck, M.D of MayoClinic.com states that the highest levels of antioxidants and polyphenols are mostly found in the juice of the pomegranate. When buying the drink, it advises checking the label to ensure there are no additive juices that only add sugar. Not only does pomegranate juice help reduce low-density lipoprotein, LDL or bad cholesterol, the Mayo Clinic notes that it is thought to slow the build-up of cholesterol in the arteries.

Acai Berry Juice

Amherst College claims that the acai berry is one of the most nutritious foods in the world. Grown in the rainforests of South America, the berry is deep purple in color with overtones that taste of chocolate. It contains the antioxidants vitamins E and C and special phytonutrients called anthocyanins, a type of polyphenol. Acai juice or drink may contain other juices or additives. The most effective drink contains 100 percent acai berry.

Elderberry Juice

Elderberry juice and its concentrate holds hiogh levels of antioxidants. Native to North America, the report Elderberry Production and Research in Missouri in "The New York Berry News" states that Native Americans and early settlers harvested the berries. Considered a nutraceutical, elderberry juice contains anthocyanins, vitamins A and C. Perdue Agriculture claims it is also a good source of iron, calcium and vitamin B6.
