How to Troubleshoot a Sportcraft Treadmill

Sportcraft is mostly known for producing indoor and outdoor game equipment, such as table tennis balls, dartboards, foosball tables and indoor basketball hoops. The manufacturer also produces a line of inexpensive treadmills sold through big box retailers such as Walmart and Sears. You can do some basic troubleshooting if you experience a problem with your Sportcraft treadmill. For more model specific instructions, refer to your owner's manual.

Step 1

Look over all parts of the treadmill. Look for any signs of damage, such as rips in the belt or on the power cord. If any parts are damaged, call the manufacturer for a replacement.

Step 2

Move the treadmill to a level surface. If the treadmill is noisy or shakes during use, you may need to roll the treadmill onto another surface that is level.

Step 3

Remove the safety key out of the Sportcraft treadmill console. Wait two minutes and reinsert the key securely into the console. This may resolve any power issues you may be having.

Step 4

Check the outlet. According to the manufacturer, you must use a single surge suppressor with a rating of 120 amps and 15 volts minimum. Unplug the treadmill and try a different outlet if the machine will not power on.

Step 5

Inspect all bolts on your Sportcraft treadmill. Use an Allen wrench to tighten any bolts that may have loosened over time.

Step 6

Center the treadmill belt. If your treadmill belt is off center to the right or left, you can use the rear roller adjustment bolts to fix the problem. Take a hex key and move the bolt ¼ turn. If the belt is off center to the left, turn the right bolt. If the belt is off center to the right, turn the left bolt. Test out the treadmill belt after you have made the adjustment to ensure that it is now centered.

Things You'll Need
