There are a myriad of pills, devices and programs out there designed to help people with a low sex-drive find the desire and ability to perform again. While some medications and programs work better than others, the unnatural ingredients that are involved can sometimes have undesirable side effects. For a more natural approach to boosting your libido, consider a natural sex diet.

Foods to Eat

Obviously, the most important part of any diet designed to increase sexual desire is eating the right foods. A recent article on the CBS News website recommends strawberries, avocados, almonds, figs, oranges and other citrus fruits, and seafood to boost sex drive. These foods contain essential antioxidants and vitamin E, which helps promote healthy blood flow to the sex organs, an essential part of a healthy sex drive. Seafood contains plenty of omega-3 fatty acids, which increase sex hormones in the body. Incorporate these foods into your regular diet for better health and a stronger libido.

Dietary Supplements

My Lifetime website recommends some natural sex-stimulating supplements to boost sex drive as well. Ginkgo biloba, often used to improve memory and concentration, can also be used to boost sex drive and sexual pleasure by increasing blood flow to the genitals and relaxing muscles. Ginseng can also be used to supplement any healthy natural sex diet, as it can increase energy and sexual desire as well.

Avoid Alcohol

While some people attribute good sex to alcohol, the Net Doctor website warns it can have the opposite effect. Family planning specialist Dr. David Delvin says that although alcohol can help break down some barriers to sex, it is a major cause of erectile dysfunction at the same time. Over time, people with drinking problems have been known to have a substantially diminished libido. For good sex, enjoy alcohol sparingly if at all.

Share Food

MSNBC's Today Health suggests sharing in a decadent dessert together as a way to spice things up in the bedroom. Although a thick slice of chocolate cake may not be an essential component of a natural sex diet, the act of sharing in such a food together can be extremely sensual, increasing sex drive between couples. They also cite a study conducted by the American Dietetic Association that links dark chocolate with a heightened sense of attraction between two people. Dark chocolate also contains phenylethylamine, an endorphin similar to those released during sex, which can increase sex drive.

Sex-Enhancing Drugs

In extreme cases of low libido, it is natural to consider taking medication to cure the problem. While medications designed to alter sex drive do work for some people, they often have side effects that are difficult to deal with. These side effects can vary from person to person and range from dizziness to headaches to increased risk for heart attack or stroke. Talk to your physician about potential side effects before you decide on such a regimen, and consider them as a last resort after other efforts, including a natural sex diet, have failed.
