The Miami 48-Hour Diet, sometimes called the Hollywood 48-Hour Miracle Diet, claims to help people lose 10 lbs. in just two days. A type of juice fast, the Miami Diet involves drinking a specially formulated juice over 48 hours while consuming no food whatsoever. The rapid weight loss supposedly results from giving the body a chance to rest and detoxify.

History

Jamie Kabler invented the Miami 48-Hour Diet while on a trip to Europe. Kabler couldn't help but notice the many Europeans who were spending a small fortune to cleanse and detoxify their bodies, inspiring him to create his own European spa in a bottle. He set out to craft a unique blend of fruit juices and purees that delivered a full-body cleanse.

Features

The Miami 48-Hour Diet juice does not contain any stimulants. The juice contains an all-natural blend of vitamins, minerals, fruit purees and juices such as grape, orange and pineapple. The juice also blends essential oils of bergamot, tangerine, lemon and orange to provide additional flavoring and cleansing properties.

Function

On the Miami 48-Hour Diet, individuals drink the specially formulated juice for two days and eat no food at all. Dieters drink the juice four times a day, mixing 4 oz. of juice with 4 oz. of water for each serving. They sip the juice over the next few hours until it's time for another serving. The diet also recommends drinking 8 oz. of water in additional to the diet formula, although water consumption should not exceed 8 oz.

Benefits

The Miami 48-Hour Diet's juice does not contain caffeine, ephedra or other stimulants. According to Diets in Review, adhering to a liquid diet for a few days can be an effective way to cleanse the system and lose weight. Liquid fasts also deliver immediate, sometimes drastic, weight loss, making the Miami 48-Hour Diet attractive to individuals interested in shedding pounds before a special event.

Time Frame

While marketed as a quick way to lose weight, the Miami 48-Hour Diet may also be extended beyond the initial two days in order to achieve sustained weight loss. However, instead of fasting entirely, dieters merely replace one meal a day, preferably dinner, with the juice, allowing for a reduction in calories.

Considerations

The Miami 48-Hour Diet will deliver results, but weight loss will be mostly water weight and not fat. The lost weight will return immediately after the fast unless there's a change in lifestyle and eating habits. Fasting for two days may also be too drastic for many individuals, especially those with existing health conditions such as diabetes. Consult your physician before trying the Miami 48 Hour Diet.
