How to Diet With Apple Cider Vinegar

The Apple Cider Vinegar Diet is a bit of a misnomer. Yes, you do take varying amounts of apple cider vinegar before you eat. But the apple cider vinegar is just a preamble to your meal. It works as an appetite suppressant, and it reportedly has helped people lose 10 to 20 pounds or more in a two- to three-week period.

Step 1

Buy a bottle of apple cider vinegar at the supermarket or health food store. If you happen to come across a bottle that has been sitting around in your pantry for months or years, throw it out. You want to use fresh apple cider vinegar that is fully potent when you get started.

Step 2

Take one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and swallow it before you eat each meal during the day. As you get used to the sour taste--vinegar means sour wine in French--you can increase the amount of apple cider vinegar you take. You can take as many as three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before you eat, but no more than that. Apple cider vinegar is very acidic and can cause stomach problems if taken in greater quantities than that.

Step 3

Put the apple cider vinegar on the back of your tongue when you take it and swallow it directly. Do not let it make contact with your teeth. The apple cider vinegar can have a corrosive impact on the enamel of your teeth. Rinse your mouth with water right after taking the product.

Step 4

Take apple cider vinegar in capsule form if you can't abide the taste of the vinegar itself. The capsules are much easier to consume than the vinegar, and they will have the same effect.

Step 5

Stop taking apple cider vinegar after four weeks. Because of the acidic nature of the product, it is not beneficial for your stomach walls, and you should stop taking it before it can cause problems for your digestive system.
