There are other ways to lose weight besides maintaining a healthy diet and exercising. While those components are important, you can also look to other methods. Hormones that are out of balance can prevent your body from losing weight. Hormone weight loss programs remedy this and manipulate your hormones to trick your body into burning more calories.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin
Human chorionic gonadotropin, HCG, is a hormone produced during pregnancy. Taking HCG supplements can help you lose weight because it tricks the body into thinking it is pregnant. The HCG diet involves taking HCG supplements or injections and severely reducing your calorie intake for 40 days. This diet restricts you to between 500 and 800 calories a day and claims to result in a loss of 40 pounds.
Human Growth Hormone
Human growth hormone, or HGH is responsible for the growth of cells, bones, muscles and organs. Your body produces plenty of HGH when you are young, but once you reach your 20s the body produces less of this hormone. Decreased levels of HGH leads to signs of aging and weight gain. HGH is available by prescription and can be injected to prevent aging and weight gain. These injections have proven to boost muscle mass and reduce body fat in healthy adults.
Estrogen
If your estrogen balance is off, this could contribute to weight gain. Both men and women have estrogen and it is important to keep its levels in balance. Doctors have found that overweight individuals tend to have higher levels of estrogen but low levels of estrogen can have adverse effects as well. Because post-menopausal women have less estrogen, their bodies may try to produce more. In order to produce estrogen, the body has to store fat and this leads to weight gain. Talk to your doctor about estrogen-based hormone therapy if you think your estrogen levels are unbalanced.
