Rexall herbal supplements are manufactured and sold by Rexall-Sundown under the name "Sundown Naturals," according to the Sundown Naturals official website. Rexall also manufactures and sells vitamins and other dietary supplements, according to Business Week. Since the FDA does not regulate any of Rexall's herbal supplements, you should talk to your doctor about your medical conditions and agree on a treatment plan that includes supplements before you begin taking them.

Echinacea

Rexall-Sundown makes two different formulations of echinacea: echinacea and echinacea mixed with goldenseal. Both may help boost the immune system to ward off colds and other viruses. According to the Sundown Naturals website, echinacea, also known as purple coneflower, works by enhancing the function of white blood cells. However, the FDA has not approved the use of echinacea to treat any disease.

Cascara Sagrada

Cascara sagrada is an herbal supplement that works as a stimulant laxative, according to Sundown Naturals. The herb stimulates the colon to push waste through the body, which may help treat constipation or a sluggish digestive system, according to the National Institutes of Health. A common side effect of cascara sagrada is yellow-brown urine, which is harmless. However, if you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bleeding from your rectum, stop taking cascara sagrada immediately and contact your doctor.

Black Cohosh and Evening Primrose Oil

Rexall-Sundown also makes and sells herbal supplements containing black cohosh and evening primrose oil, both of which may help with menstrual and other women's hormonal symptoms, according to Sundown Naturals. Sundown states that black cohosh may help ease the symptoms of menopause, while evening primrose oil may help ease menstrual cramps and other symptoms that accompany a woman's period.
