How to Compare a Soloflex & a Bowflex

Soloflex and Bowflex are two options if you're looking to install a personal gym in your home. The machines are compact and you can use them for full body workouts. You can use various weights and dumbbells to work out your legs, arms, chest and torso. Since the Soloflex and Bowflex have similarities, you should draw comparisons between the two to make your buying decision.

Step 1

Determine the models available through the Soloflex and Bowflex companies. Bowflex has a larger selection, with six current models available, including the Revolution, Ultimate and Xtreme. Soloflex only has two models: Classic and Classic with Attachments.

Step 2

Look at pricing information for the Soloflex and Bowflex. Bowflex home gyms are typically more expensive and run upwards of $2,000. Soloflex home gyms, on the other hand, can be found for approximately $1,500.

Step 3

Compare the features of the Bowflex and Soloflex home gyms (see Resources). Bowflex includes up to 300 lbs. standard resistance, attachments, squat stations and a five- to 10-year warranty. A Soloflex has dip bar, leg attachments, bench pins and up to 400 lbs. standard resistance.

Step 4

Consider the workouts available for each machine. Many Bowflex models include a workout video to help you use the machine. Some of the models have more than 100 exercises. You can see dozens of exercises at the Soloflex website, although there are no videos.

Step 5

Read reviews of the Soloflex and Bowflex home gyms (see Resources).
