The family-oriented Rosemount Camping Resort is an ideal place to bring young ones for a weekend (or longer) of fun. You will find everything from full RV sites to a camp store to readily organized family activities. The pristine Pocono Mountains Pennsylvania's Schuylkill County offer hiking with views and panoramas.
RV and Camping Amenities
Rosemount has more than 200 RV sites complete with shade and enough area to picnic. Each site is meant for a family (based on a family of four). You can still bring over four people for an extra fee. You'll find water and electric sites, as well as sites with water, electric and sewer hookups. For those camping with small children, an elderly person or anyone who wants extra comfort, there are also cabin rentals available on-site. RV sites cost about $35 per night, while cabin rentals cost about $50. There also are extra-person fees or guest fees. An on-site camp store can take care of any of your fire, ice or other camping needs.
Children and Family Activities
Rosemount has games and contests that children and families can enjoy together, including bingo nights, movie nights and games such as shuffleboard and pingpong. You'll have access to a recreation room, a game room, and a play ship -- like a playground, but a ship. For those interested, ceramics and arts and crafts are available as well. It's almost like summer camp -- but parents are invited too.
Evening Activities
In the evening, Rosemount organizes fun and games for all families. There are ice cream sundae nights, bingo, free popcorn, and wine and cheese, dancing and live entertainment. If you camp at Rosemount on a special weekend -- for example, Mother's Day, Fourth of July, or Memorial Day -- expect specially organized parties and fun. On other weekends, you'll still be able to enjoy different parties and socials including line dancing, a chicken barbecue or a scavenger hunt.
Camp Recreation
In addition to all the family games and contests, Rosemount also has a swimming pool, a wading pool, paddle boats and fishing. If you're still looking for more, you'll be able to play basketball, volleyball and softball. For younger kids who don't want to play organized games or can't keep up with the older kids, there is a full playground.
Nearby Recreation
If you're itching to get off the grounds and do some major exploring, Rosemount is near Tuscarora State Park, Hawk Mountain, the Appalachian Trail and Pioneer Coal Mine Tunnel. Tuscarora has acres of water for boating (nonmotor only), swimming, and fishing. You can also hike on miles of trails with panoramic views of the foothills and mountains. The Appalachian Trail is a famous hiking trail on which you could even camp for a night, or cook-out and make your own food over the fire. Hawk Mountain has a bird sanctuary, and Pioneer offers mine tours.
