Fruit flushing diets are short-term diets commonly used for detoxification and weight loss. The Apple Cleansing Diet, the Watermelon Cleanse and the Fruit Flush Diet are among the three-day fruit flushes. Although these diets have anecdotal support on alternative health websites, scientific evidence that these diets are effective for sustained weight loss or for detoxifying your body is lacking. MayoClinic.com reports that detox diets can lead to fatigue, dizziness and nausea. Consult your physician before undergoing a fruit flush.

Apple Cleansing Diet

The Apple Cleansing Diet is a three-day fruit flush backed by the medical clairvoyant Edgar Cayce. During the diet you eat nothing but raw apples and drink plenty of water. On the final day of the cleanse, just before going to bed, you consume 1/2 cup of olive oil. Although MayoClinic.com reports that there is little evidence that detox diets actually remove toxins, according to Cayce, this fruit fast will "cleanse all toxic forces from any system."

Watermelon Cleanse

The Watermelon Cleanse is a short-term detox diet commonly practiced for kidney health. During the three-day flush, you consume as much watermelon, or watermelon juice, as you desire. In addition, you can blend ginger and lemon juice with watermelon fruit for a watermelon smoothie. Naturopathic physician Dr. Arial says that watermelon is a whole-body cleanser and has positive effects on your kidneys, bladder, liver, heart, stomach and colon. See your doctor before trying the Watermelon Cleanse. This cleanse does not replace regular medical care.

Fruit Flush Diet

The Fruit Flush Diet is a three-day detox diet originated by nutritionist Jay Robb. Robb claims that the diet removes toxins and flushes away extra pounds. On the first day of the diet you consume protein drinks every two hours as well as a dinner consisting of vegetables and lean meat. During the second and third days, you eat a variety of fruits every two hours followed by a dinner of raw vegetables and a protein drink. EveryDiet.org reports that the Fruit Flush Diet promises quick results that may not reflect a true weight loss.
