Ohio has more than 3,800 square miles of lakes, reservoirs, rivers and streams waiting for outdoor enthusiasts. Anglers can enjoy the waterways all year long, fishing for trout, black bass, walleye, cat fish and more. There are more than 100 fishing clubs in Ohio available for beginner, intermediate and experienced anglers
Bass Fishing Clubs
East Fork Bass Club sponsors fishing trips and 12 tournaments throughout the year. The club has youth classes designed to educate the youngsters in catch and release, environment and conservation methods. Fishing tournaments promote fellowship, fishing and skill. All weigh-in catches are subject to state of Ohio and/or federal laws.
Private Fishing Clubs
Pine Lake Trout Club is set in a scenic wooded and lake area. They provide private cabins that are fully equipped for a week-end or an extended stay. They do not allow live bate to be used except in the upper lake area. Instruction is provided for basic and intermediate anglers. Basic instruction includes the use of the rods, casting techniques, knots and baiting, Intermediate training improves on the basic skills. The training is tailored for the individual anglers expertise.
Kayak and Canoe Clubs
Southern Ohio Floating Association sponsor, canoes, kayaks, fishing and camping trips. The Mad River -- class 1 -- is a very gentle river allows the angler to enjoy the tree lined hills, caves, high rock walls and cascading water falls. Anglers can fish from their canoe or set up their stand from shore at their camping site.
Fly Fishing Clubs
Buckeye United Fly Fishers is a non profit club close to Cincinnati. They provide instruction in conservation use of waterways, protection and improvement of natural resources, They provide classes to teach fly fishing, proper casting and equipment use. Their technicians will evaluate your personal equipment and provide recommendations on the care, storage and repairs if necessary.
Warnings
Fishing licenses are required for anglers. The cost of the licenses vary according to age, residency and duration of the license. The licenses are required for all tournament competitions. Licenses can be obtained online, through the mail or through sporting goods stores throughout the state.
