The first thing someone sees when you interact with him is your skin. Healthy skin gives the appearance of good overall health and can help to enhance your overall physical appearance. In addition to good personal hygiene, eating properly can greatly help your skin.

Significance

Proper Hydration

Drinking plenty of water is a good start for skin health. Liz Lipski, PhD, says that an increase in sweating helps to keep your skin healthy. Drinking more water will help the sweating process.

Fish

Eating fish is a way to keep your skin healthy. According to Naturalnews, salmon contains high amounts of fatty acids. A fatty acid such as omega-3s helps your skin by allowing nutrients into your cells. Snapper, a tropical fish, has large amounts of anti-inflammatory fats as well as selenium, a key mineral for your skin, according to the "Ladies' Home Journal" website.

Fruits and Vegetables

The website Naturalskincaresecrets explains how fruit and vegetables have antioxidants, which help to fight free radicals. Free radicals can cause you to age more quickly. Fruits and vegetables can be divided into colors, and each group provides different benefits to your health. For example, yellow and orange fruits and veggies such as carrots, oranges and apricots carry vitamin C and beta-carotene, which promote healthy skin. Fruits and veggies in the blue and purple group such as blueberries and beets are also high in antioxidants.

Considerations

Make sure you limit sun exposure and wear sunscreen to benefit your skin health. The Palo Alto Medical Foundation website explains that there are two types of sun rays, UVA and UVB. UVA contributes to skin aging and UVB can lead to sunburn. You may have to re-apply sunscreen after sweating. Also, make sure to keep your skin healthy by practicing good hygiene and overall bodily cleanliness.
