Popular Culture

In 2010, Smirnoff Ice became known as an Internet meme for its role in the drinking game "Bros icing bros." As reported in the Washington Post and Fortune Magazine, a wide variety of people from college students to office workers took part in this game, often using it as a prank against friends and colleagues. During the game, anyone presented with a bottle of Smirnoff Ice must immediately bend down on one knee and chug the bottle. He can avoid drinking the beverage by presenting his "attacker" with his own bottle of Smirnoff Ice, who must then drink both bottles. Smirnoff denies any involvement of this phenomenon.
