Popcorn is a healthful, whole grain snack that can be eaten just about anywhere. Unfortunately, many microwavable popcorn bags are loaded with calories and fat. Most bags hold more than 1 serving per bag, so it is easy to overeat. Orville Redenbacher now offers two flavors of 100 calorie mini packs -- butter and "kettle korn."
Serving Size and Calorie Information
Each mini pack has just one serving, making 6.5 cups when popped. The entire bag of popped corn is just 100 calories. It's a healthful choice for an after school or evening snack, or anytime you just need something crunchy.
Fat and Cholesterol
There is 1.5 g of total fat per serving in both flavors. There is no saturated fat, trans fat, or cholesterol in either variety, says the company website.
Carbohydrate and Protein
Both flavors have 21 grams of carbohydrates. Three grams of the carbohydrates are dietary fiber, providing support for a healthy bowel system and a healthy heart. Both flavors also provide 3 grams of protein.
Sodium
There are 140 mg of sodium in the butter flavor and 130 mg in the kettle korn. Having sodium levels at or below 140 mg makes both flavors low sodium products. Eating less sodium is important for everyone, but particularly for those dealing with high blood pressure.
Vitamins and Minerals
Both products contain 4 percent of the daily value for iron. Neither are a significant source of vitamin A, vitamin C, or calcium. The butter flavor provides 200 mg of potassium, while the kettle korn provides only 80 mg.
