El Toro is a Mexican restaurant chain that has been in Texas since 1960, according to the restaurant's website. The chain has a number of locations throughout Texas, and offers grilled entrees, traditional Mexican favorites and appetizers. Although many of the dishes at El Toro feature ingredients that are healthy on their own -- such as meat, beans, tortillas and cheese -- the combination of these ingredients may result in a high-calorie meal.

Flour Tortillas

Many of the dishes at El Toro feature flour tortillas as a base. This ingredient is used for soft tacos, burritos and quesadillas, among other items. According to the online nutrition resource MyFitnessPal, El Toro flour tortillas provide 80 calories, with 2 g of fat, 14 g of carbohydrates and 2 g of protein. Although each flour tortilla is not very high in carbohydrates, you may wish to avoid dishes with multiple tortillas if you are on a low carbohydrate diet.

The Mexican rice is a common side dish for entrees at El Toro. Mexican rice is a high carbohydrate food, with 41 g of carbohydrates per cup, according to MyFitnessPal. Each cup contains 213 calories, with 4 g of fat, notes MyFitnessPal. This is another menu item that would be inappropriate for a low carbohydrate diet.

Cheese Nachos

One of the appetizer options at El Toro is the cheese nachos. This dish is as high, or higher than, some entrees in calories and is not a diet-friendly dish. According to the nutrition information database Wiki Weight Watcher, each serving of cheese nachos at El Toro offers 345 calories, with 19 g of fat and 36 g of carbohydrates. This meal has a Weight Watchers point score of 8.5.

Chicken Fajitas

Chicken fajitas are a tortilla-based meal that provide vegetables, chicken and cheese. According to Wiki Weight Watcher, each chicken fajita contains 292 calories, with 8 g of fat, 26 g of protein and 29 g of carbohydrates. Chicken fajitas are one of the highest protein and lowest fat choices on the menu at El Toro.

Bean Burrito

Bean burritos are high in carbohydrates and are one of the few vegetarian options at El Toro. According to Wiki Weight Watcher, El Toro's bean burritos each contain 224 calories, 7 g of fat, 35 g of carbohydrates and 5 g of protein.
