How to Consume Bee Pollen

Bee pollen is considered to be a highly nutritious food. According to Vanderbilt University, bee pollen is full of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and is even a good source of protein. Bee pollen is taken for a variety of health conditions, including allergies, fatigue and prostate health. Very little research has been done regarding the effectiveness of bee pollen related to the treatment of health conditions. Always consult a doctor or other health care professional prior to adding bee pollen to your diet.

Step 1

Place one to two bee pollen granules under your tongue and allow to dissolve. If you've purchased capsules, simply open the capsule by twisting the two halves apart. It is important to start with very small doses in case you are allergic.

Step 2

Add one to two more granules each day until you build up to a dose of 1 tsp. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, itchiness, swelling or rash, discontinue use and contact a doctor immediately.

Step 3

Take bee pollen each day. Adults can take 1 to 3 tsp. per day either all at once in the morning or in divided doses throughout the day. Bee pollen may increase energy due to the vitamin B content, so using it throughout the day can help maintain energy levels to combat fatigue. Bee pollen hasn't medically proven to be a treatment for fatigue. Contact your doctor for advice and recommendations.

Step 4

Consume your daily dose of bee pollen by mixing it into your morning cereal, yogurt, oatmeal or any breakfast food. It can also be added to smoothies or eaten by itself. Bee pollen tablets may be taken with any beverage of your choice.
