Toddler educational programs offer toddlers a chance to learn basic skills, such as fine and gross motor skills and how to get along with peers. These programs are often offered as part of a preschool or day care program, and may be taught by teachers with training and experience in toddler education. Both nationwide programs and locally based programs are available in most U.S. cities.
Kiddie Academy
Kiddie Academy franchises teach toddlers through an educational program called "Discovering Me." The program uses qualified early childhood education teachers to evaluate each child's strengths and guide him into appropriate activities. The program's activities are designed to improve your toddler's basic skills including motor, emotional and social skills.
Child Education Centers
Child Education Centers, or CECs, also offer a specialized program for toddlers. The CEC program is designed to help toddlers learn communication skills, self-esteem, social skills and basic physical skills. The program for toddlers usually includes a safe play area with toys and climbing equipment especially designed for toddlers, and activities such as singing, coloring and playing musical instruments that appeal to a toddler's short attention span while teaching basic skills.
KinderCare
KinderCare centers offer a toddler program designed to offer children ample time to learn, play and experience a nurturing and supportive environment, according to KinderCare's website. The program offers whole group instruction each day to help toddlers learn social skills. Each month's lessons are organized around a particular theme to help children make connections between ideas. Finally, the program offers parents plenty of communication with teachers so that parents and teachers can work together to provide the best environment for each individual toddler.
Local Centers
Many U.S. cities and towns have local toddler educational programs. These programs may be offered through the local schools, a local community center, or in dedicated schools for early childhood education. For instance, the Valley Childcare and Learning Center in Phoenix, Arizona, offers a toddler education program in addition to day care facilities, and provides parents with a daily progress report. In Decatur, Georgia, the "Smart Toddlers" program offers toddlers in-class activities as well as small field trips to stimulate their growth and love for learning.
