Wushu is the Chinese word meaning martial arts. It is a culturally important tradition in China, and it started out as a means of survival and gradually became a popular formal sport. Wushu has also become a basic type of self-defense and an exercise for most practitioners of this martial art.
Step 1
Learn wushu by enrolling in a class. First, contact a school and find out its pricing plan; some of them are free, others are on a per session payment. In addition, find out if the teacher is qualified by asking about his training history. If possible, get references from previous students regarding their learning experience with a particular teacher. A class will be worth your time if the teacher has a good background with many years of experience.
Step 2
Look for an instructional wushu book that contains pictures describing each movement. Some books come bundled with audio aids. It may also help to find a partner to practice with for a third-person visual interpretation of a movement.
Step 3
Watch a video about wushu at your local public library. When looking through the catalog, find a video that's more current for better picture and production quality. When watching a video, make sure to take notes on movements you find confusing, and rewind to watch these scenes again if necessary.
Step 4
Learn wushu online. There are many wushu resources and videos at Flashmavi.com as well as bulletin boards and wushu Internet groups. Interact with fellow wushu trainees online through message boards and ask questions about movements you may be unclear about during your training.
