If you do not have much time to cook during the week but still want to enjoy portion-controlled meals and snacks each day, you might want to try the Bistro MD Diet to lose weight while eating a variety of foods. The Bistro MD Diet is a meal delivery service that claims to help you boost your metabolism, lose unwanted pounds, lower your cholesterol and improve your heart health, according to the diet's official website.

Identification

Created by Dr. Caroline Cederquist, medical director for the Cederquist Medical Wellness Center in Naples, Florida, the Bistro MD Diet is a weight reduction program that claims to help you lose weight by consuming the company's packaged meals in place of home- or restaurant-prepared meals, according to the diet's website. Additionally, once you join the program, you receive Cederquist's personal recommendations on topics such as exercise, nutrition, weight control and mental health to help you maintain the weight loss you achieve on the program, according to BistroMD.com.

Theories/Speculation

According to Cederquist, you might have trouble managing your weight because you do not have the time to prepare nutrient-rich foods in addition to your busy work, family and social obligations. Furthermore, Cederquist says that while a variety of packaged meal plans offer home delivery services, the menus on these plans are often unappetizing and nutritionally insufficient. Therefore, Cederquist developed nutrient-rich and tasty packaged meals with nutritionists and award-winning chefs to help you take the guesswork out of eating meals that might help you lose weight and experience better health, according to the Bistro MD website.

Plans

Bistro MD offers four weekly meal plans. The first plan offers seven days of three meals per day and two snacks per day and the second plan offers seven days of three meals per day without snacks. Bistro MD also offers one five-day work week plan with snacks and one five-day work week plan without snacks, according to the diet's website. Furthermore, Cederquist says that you can also eat one serving of fruit per day and up to 4 cups of fresh vegetables per day.

Considerations

According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, NIDDK, eating packaged meals does not teach you the cooking skills or food selection practices that you need to maintain your weight loss over the long term, and might also be an expensive way for you to eat.

Warning

Consult your doctor about the Bistro MD diet plan before you begin the program. You might have certain nutritional needs that the program cannot provide, or your doctor might recommend another weight-loss program based upon your individual health concerns.
