Information on a Weslo Dx3 Treadmill

One of the largest fitness equipment makers, Icon Health and Fitness, manufactured the Weslo DX3 treadmill around 1999. The company makes many popular brands including NordicTrack, FreeMotion and Reebok fitness products. The DX3 is no longer available new; you can only find it from private owners selling used models.

The Brand

The Weslo brand provides consumers with budget treadmills for in-home use. As of 2010, a new Weslo treadmill retails for $139 to $399. For this reason, it may make more sense to purchase a new Weslo treadmill rather than a used one, depending on the price and condition of the used machine.

DX3 Model

The DX3 is a motorized, fold-away treadmill designed for residential use. The simple console features one display and a knob you use to control the speed of the walking belt. A water bottle holder is located on the left side of the console. When you are not using your Weslo DX3, lift the walking belt until it locks in an upright position. You can then wheel it to a storage area.

Features

The Weslo DX3 is a basic treadmill with only a few features. You adjust the speed of the walking belt, up to 8 mph, by turning a knob on the console. The DX3 offers two incline positions, but you must manually adjust the incline by unplugging the machine, raising the back of the treadmill and rotating the incline leg. The console display shows the speed, time elapsed, distance and approximate calories burned.

Function

The DX3 may be appropriate for beginners. It can support users up to 250 lbs., according to the owner's manual. With no way to adjust the incline while you are working out and a top speed of 8 mph, serious runners may find this treadmill does not provide an intense enough workout to fit their needs.

Parts

Parts for the Weslo DX3 are readily available online. However, a replacement walking belt for the DX3 is listed for $89.99 on the website Treadmill Doctor as of 2010. This is 1/4 to over 1/2 the cost of a new Weslo treadmill, depending on the model.
