Lifetime fitness requires three components that make up the American Heart Association's "FIT" formula: frequency, intensity and time. The AHA recommends that you exercise at least 30 minutes per day most days of the week at a level that is 50 to 85 percent of your maximum heart rate. If you are short on time, these exercise sessions can be broken into smaller increments and still be beneficial. The best activities to perform are the ones that you can stick with: join an intramural league, walk, take an aerobics class or find some other exercise you enjoy doing.
