Nasal dryness has many causes. It can be the result of arid climates or especially dry air in your home, genetics and even your water source. When dry, noses are more prone to excessive nose bleeds, a stuffy nose, infections and poor breathing. As a result, it's important to keep your nasal passage lubricated to ward off unwanted ailments and discomfort. If you make all the necessary changes to prevent dry nose but still suffer from the problem, consult your doctor.
Step 1
Use a saline spray to instantly relieve dry nose pain or discomfort. Saline sprays are found at most drug stores and superstores or can be obtained from your physician. Typically, the saline spray tip is inserted into the nose and squeezed to release a mist into the nasal cavity. Refer to the directions on your product for best results.
Step 2
Combine 1/4 tsp. kosher salt, 1/4 tsp. baking soda and 8 oz. of distilled, warm water into a small bowl. Stir well. Fill a nasal bulb syringe--often used for babies--with the concoction. Stand over the sink and insert the tip of the bulb syringe into your nasal cavity. Gently squeeze the contents out to lubricate the nose. This process helps with severe dryness and breaks down crusted mucus, reports the University of Michigan Health System.
Step 3
Turn on a home humidifier every night to decrease dryness in your home. Keep the humidifier on for the duration of the night for best results. All humidifiers vary in their use, so refer to your product's directions.
