How to Lose Weight Fast With Diets

The word "diet" is feared by many and talked about every day in the media. There really is no reason to fear going on a diet, because you are actually already on one. What you eat during the course of the day is your diet. If you are looking to lose weight, then you need to change your diet, not go on one. If you want fast weight loss, then you need to change it even more. This can be done by following several steps.

Step 1

Give up the low nutrient foods. Foods that are high in sugar, fat and sodium are also high in calories and they lack any nutritional firepower. If you want to lose weight fast, stop eating these foods fast as well. Examples of these foods are cakes, cookies, candy, fried foods, fast food, high-fat dairy, white flour products, commercial baked goods and anything that is deep fried. Have your diet consist only of nutrient dense foods such as fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, whole grains, beans, lean meats, fish and low-fat dairy products.

Step 2

Avoid liquid calories. Calories that come from liquids can sabotage any weight loss goal, especially when you want to reach it fast. When you drink calories, your brain does not receive the same signal from the stomach that it does from solid food. This means you can end up getting an overdose of calories. If you want fast weight loss, avoid beverages that are high in sugar and calories, such as soda, fruit juices, flavored coffee drinks, milk shakes, sweetened teas and alcohol. Drink water instead. Water is calorie-free, it helps flush toxins from your system and it can give you a full feeling when you have it with your meals.

Step 3

Eat multiple meals a day. When you eat two to three meals a day, the long gaps between them cause your body to hold on to stored fat for energy because it doesn't know when it is going to get fed again. To kick-start your metabolism, eat a small meal every two to three hours throughout the day. This can also help give you sustained energy levels, keep your appetite under control and prevent you from overeating. Make sure your meals are a balance of protein and complex carbs. An example would be a cup of cottage cheese with chopped berries.

Step 4

Cut your total calories. In order to lose weight, you must cut back your daily calorie intake. To lose a pound, you must burn 3,500 calories. If you reduce your daily intake by 500 calories, you can lose a pound a week. If you want to get extreme, you can cut your calories even more than that. Just make sure to keep eating a small meal every few hours to maintain your energy levels.

Step 5

Do not eat right before bed. Although there is a lot of debate going on about eating late at night, there is one thing that does make sense. When you sleep, your metabolism slows way down. This means you are likely to store calories as fat if you eat late at night. If you want to lose weight fast, avoid nighttime snacking.
