Less Carbohydrates

Rippedabs explains that carbohydrates become glycogen which is stored by the body for energy. However, there is not that much room for glycogen in the body and too many carbs lead to glycogen being stored as fat. You'll want to eat complex carbs to get your necessary intake. Complex carbs consist of foods like multi-grain bread, fat free milk and carrots according to the website Sugar Addiction. Also, try and eat your last carbohydrates for the day about three hours before you go to sleep.

Increased Protein

Protein is an important muscle-building nutrient. The website Weightloss&training.com explains that whey protein supplements work well to decrease hunger and ensure that you're not eating junk food to fight it. Rippedabs suggests that protein should factor into every meal and that you should consume a minimum of 1g of protein per pound of body weight every day.

Foods to Avoid

There are many good foods you should eat for your midsection, but there are also several foods that you should avoid. According to the website Getsixpackabs.org some foods to remove from your diet include chocolate, white sugar and white bread. Also, don't eat processed foods as these are unnatural. This does not mean that you can never eat these things, just avoid them the vast majority of the time.

Considerations

Incorporate abdominal exercises such as crunches to keep your midsection strong. Regular exercise can also help with burning calories and shedding body fat. Don't undereat because it can cause health hazards.
