Nordictrack Treadmill Weight Specifications

Nordictrack, a manufacturer of various exercise machines, offers a line of electrical treadmills. Each treadmill varies in how it's built and what purpose it serves. Some commercial models have more heavy-duty components and extra features, while models designed for home use have fewer features and simpler components. Both types have their own weight specifications to guide how weights affect each machine.

Significance

Knowing the weight capacity and any other weight specifications on your Nordictrack treadmill helps you to operate it properly. Not understanding your treadmill weight specifications may cause temporary or permanent issues. Exceeding the weight capacity, for example, may cause it not to operate properly: the treadmill's walking belt may move slowly or not at all. You may also receive console errors or cause damage to the treadmill's frame.

Weight Capacities

Weight capacities vary with each Nordictrack treadmill model. Most models range from 250 to 350 lbs. Commercial models typically have the highest weight capacity limit. Older Nordictrack treadmills have lower weight limits; newer models feature weight capacities over 300 lbs.

Features

The treadmills in the A Series, designed for the home user with smaller motors, offer programmed training workouts. The A2550 Pro and the A2750 Pro, both part of the A Series, limit weight to 350 lbs. The Commercial Series, built with a sturdy frame for heavy use, includes the 1500 and 1750; both have a 350-lb. weight limit. With larger motors, the Elite Series models -- the 7500 and 9500 Pro -- cater to runners; both limit weight capacity to 350 lbs. The Reflex Series adds extra cushioning to the treadbelt to reduce impact on joints; the 4500 Pro and 8600 Pro can accommodate weights up to 350 lbs. Letting you exercise with a 40 percent incline, Nordictrack's Incline Series -- the Trainer X3 Interactive, for example -- limits weight at 300 lbs., and the X71 limits weight at 350 lbs.

Workout Weight Variances

The treadmill's console tracks the approximate amount of calories burned. The actual amount of calories burned depends on your weight, a measurement that not all Nordictrack treadmills track. If your particular treadmill has this feature, enter your weight before your start your workout for an accurate calorie expenditure.

Considerations

The Nordictrack manufacturer's warranty does not cover damage related to misuse or abuse. Exceeding the treadmill's specified weight capacity may constitute misuse or abuse, and may void the Nordictrack warranty. Look in your owner's manual for the weight capacity or contact Nordictrack's customer support.
