Coenzyme Q10 occurs naturally in the human body and is essential to basic cell functioning. When applied to the face, the vitamin is thought to nourish the skin and provides antioxidant protection. MayoClinic.com reports that although Coenzyme Q10 has been used and studied for many conditions, it remains controversial as a treatment for many of them.

Step 1

Discuss the safety of pure Coenzyme Q10 with your doctor. It is generally safe for most adults, though mild side effects such as an upset stomach, decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and allergic reactions can occur, according to MedlinePlus. Because of its affect on blood pressure, people with low blood pressure or who are taking certain medications might experience complications.

Step 2

Purchase Coenzyme Q10 powder. Though a variety of serums and other products are available, they typically contain added ingredients that dilute the product's purity. To be certain you are getting a pure powder, look for a product without fillers that is labeled pharmaceutical grade.

Step 3

Shake a small amount of powder into the palm of your washed hand. Wet your fingertip and then use it to apply the powder to your freshly cleansed face.

Step 4

Allow the powder to absorb into your skin overnight. In the morning, cleanse your face as usual, repeating your regimen and Coenzyme Q10 application again before bedtime.

Step 5

Zip your product inside a resealable, airtight bag, then store it in a cool dark place such as in a medicine cabinet. Due to its susceptibility to oxidation, avoid exposing it to air, which can alter the color and potency of the product. A product that has been overly exposed to air and allowed to oxidize will appear dark brown in color. If this happens, dispose of your powder and purchase a fresh batch.
