Kundalini yoga and lifestyle teaches that your body is made up of seven chakras, that when balanced can help improve and enrich your life for peace, happiness and well-being. Each chakra is responsible for an area of your life. When one or more of your chakras are unbalanced, you might not be living the life that you want to. By using kundalini to help affirm and balance all of your chakras, you may be able to find more peace in your life and a feeling of personal satisfaction.
Step 1
Balance your earth chakra, which is the first, by wearing the color red and stomping your feet on the ground to release energy. The first chakra grounds you to the mortal world and deals with grounding you to keep you safe from the wants and needs of possessions. Without balance here, you may be obsessed with material goods, warns the Sai Darshan website.
Step 2
Mediate in order to find peace in your emotional realm as you balance your second chakra, which deals with sexual function, creativity and energy, notes the book, "Kundalini Yoga: The Flow of Eternal Power." Light a sandalwood candle or spend time near the element of water as you affirm your energy and think about your relationships and sexuality.
Step 3
Give yourself a place in the universe as you balance your third chakra, which deals with self esteem and confidence. Abdominal strengthening poses can help balance the third chakra, so consider trying the warrior poses one, two and three along with mediation to help you gain a clearer opinion of your role in the universe and general self acceptance.
Step 4
Show compassion for your fellow man as you use kundalini teachings to help balance your fourth chakra, or the heart. The fourth chakra is the basis for all other chakras, so if this is unbalanced, you may feel ill at ease. Emotional practice, like crying or showing happiness is recommended by the book "Wheels of Life," along with calming poses that open up your heart, like the side plank.
Step 5
Communicate with the people that you love to balance the fifth chakra, which is found on the throat and rules your communication skills. When functioning properly, the fifth chakra allows you only to speak the truth. Chant the affirmation "Self-expression makes for self-preservation" as you practice cobra pose and headstand pose to balance your fifth chakra and become a better communicator.
Step 6
Open your third eye to connect with your intuition as you balance your sixth chakra. The sixth chakra is all about your own wisdom and creating visual beauty around you. Decorate your home in indigo or sip mint tea as your meditate upon your inner voice and what it tells you to do.
Step 7
Meditate upon the color violet as you contemplate your true self. This will help to balance the seventh, or crown, chakra. Through the seventh chakra, you affirm your role as an enlightened and universal being. Try chanting, "An optimistic atmosphere helps take the place of sunshine in the winter months" before meditation. Balancing the seventh chakra leaves you with an open mind, notes Yoga Chicago.
