Although horror stories about the calorie content of a tub of movie theater popcorn are plentiful, air popped popcorn without butter or artificial flavors is a low calorie, cholesterol-free food. Enjoy air popped popcorn while staying in and watching a movie.

Calories, Sugar and Fat

Air-popped popcorn is a low calorie food. One ounce of air-popped popcorn, which is roughly equivalent to three cups of popped popcorn, contains only 108 calories, 1 g of fat and no sugar.

Vitamins

One oz. of air-popped popcorn also contains small amounts of vitamins including less than 4 percent of the recommended daily values of vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, folate and pantothenic acid.

Minerals

One serving of air-popped popcorn contains 16 percent of the recommended daily allowance of manganese, 10 percent of the RDA of phosphorous and magnesium, 6 percent of the RDA of zinc, 5 percent of the recommended daily value of iron, 4 percent of the recommended daily value of copper and 3 percent of the recommended daily value of potassium.

Fiber

Air-popped popcorn is an excellent source of fiber: three cups provides 4 g of fiber, or 20 percent of the USDA's recommended daily allowance.
