Camping Near the Lawrence Welk Theater in Branson, Missouri

Branson is referred to by the Associated Press as "one of the top family destinations in the country." Located in the Ozark Mountains, the town is home to more than 5,000 camping sites nearby more than 40 theaters, including the Lawrence Welk Theater, with more than 70 live shows annually, three lakes, nine golf courses and over 250 restaurants. If you're visiting Branson, you can find a campsite that suits your needs.

History

Although Branson is, in more modern times, known as the "live music capital of the world," its history dates back to the late 1800s when it housed only a small country store. Rueben Branson opened the town's first store and post office in 1882 and the area quickly developed a large tomato canning industry. Branson was incorporated in 1912.

Climate

Because of its location near the geographic center of the United States, Branson has a relatively mild climate. During the summer months, the town experiences an average daytime high in the mid to high 80s Fahrenheit. In the spring and fall, you can expect the high to be anywhere from the high 60s to the mid 70s. During the winter months, Branson experiences highs in the mid 40s, with Christmas day averaging each year at 51 degrees.

If you're in Branson to visit the Lawrence Welk Theater, there are a number of nearby campsites that can accommodate you.

About two and a half miles from the theater is the Oak Grove Campground. It has full hookups including cable TV, wireless Internet access and laundry facilities. All of its sites are paved and there are showers, a dump station and picnic tables available for guests.

About three and a half miles from the theater is the Pea Patch RV Park. All of its sites, including its tent sites, have full hookups including free Wi-Fi. This park has a swimming pool, heated showers and a full-service laundry facility.

Summer Recreation

Branson is located nearby three lakes--Table Rock, Taneycomo and Bull Shoals--that provide you with access to fishing, kayaking, water skiing, swimming, boating, sailing and SCUBA diving. Camping is available at all of these lakes. The Lawrence Welk Theater plays its shows seasonally, so you can enjoy whatever show the theater is playing when you visit.

Winter Recreation

Branson markets its winter climate as providing access to "Hot Winter Fun" because of its warm climate with infrequent snow. If you're visiting in the winter, you can enjoy trout fishing, which is at its peak in the winter, on Lake Taneycomo or enjoy hiking and nature viewing at any of the three nearby lakes. You can enjoy the winter show at the Lawrence Welk Theater, enjoy a round of golf at any of the nearby golf courses or view the Branson Area Festival of Lights around Christmastime.
