Laser surgery is used for a variety of conditions including skin imperfections, such as scarring. During these procedures, a surgeon uses a high-energy laser to remodel the skin, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. This procedure is also effective for reducing pain from scarring. However, after the procedure is complete, a patient might want to lose facial weight to further enhance her appearance. Lifestyle changes can help lose facial fat.

Step 1

Boost water intake. When the body doesn't get enough water, it starts to hold onto its water supply. This causes facial bloating, resulting in a larger looking face, according to "Good Housekeeping" magazine. Drink a minimum of nine, 8-oz. glasses daily to get rid of facial bloating.

Step 2

Eat more fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are dense in water content, minimizing facial bloating. These foods are also high in fiber, allowing you to feel full for longer and avoid overeating. MayoClinic.com recommends eating a minimum of three servings of fruit and four servings of vegetables daily.

Step 3

Decrease calorie intake. Weight loss is an important tool in losing facial fat after your laser surgery procedure. Lose 1 lb. of fat by burning an additional 3,500 calories each week, recommends "Good Housekeeping." This breaks down to about 500 calories daily. Burn 250 calories through working out and trim 250 calories out of your diet to lose extra pounds.

Step 4

Start a healthy exercise plan. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends getting a minimum of 150 minutes of exercise weekly. This breaks down to about 30 minutes, five times a week. Exercise burns extra calories, allowing the face to slim down more quickly.

Step 5

Cut back on sodium intake. Diets high in sodium can cause facial bloating. Consume no more than 1,500 mg a day of sodium, recommends the American Heart Association.

Tips and Warnings

  • Pay attention to calcium intake. Consuming 1,200 mg of calcium daily could be linked to weight loss, according to "Good Housekeeping." Calcium may also reduce bloating, which makes the face appear slimmer.
  • Alcohol dehydrates the body, which may cause facial bloating. Alcohol is also high in calories, which boosts your calorie intake resulting in weight gain. Limit your alcohol intake.
