Consumption of fatty foods over time can can be detrimental to health. Fatty food refers to the types of fat in foods that do harm. Saturated fat, trans fat and cholesterol build up in the arteries and create plaques. Eventually, plaque builds up to the point where blood is unable to flow freely, resulting in a heart attack. These types of fat also contribute to overweight and obesity when eaten in excess or in the absence of adequate physical activity to burn the calories these fats contribute. The American Heart Association recommends limiting saturated fats to less than 7 percent of calorie intake each day and trans fat to less than 1 percent of calories each day.
Cheesecake
Cheesecake is one of the most fattening foods one can consume. It is primarily made of cream cheese, which is high in saturated fat. Eggs are a very common ingredient and provide the cholesterol in this dessert. The crust is also high in fat as most crusts use butter or lard as an emulsifier to hold the ingredients together as well as for a flavor enhancer. Together, the crust, eggs and cheese drive up the fat content to very unhealthy levels. One example is the Cheesecake Factory's Dulce Le Leche cheesecake with 44 g of saturated fat per slice, according to the Cheesecake Factory website nutrient information.
Hamburger
Hamburgers are another fatty food to consume in moderation, if at all. Extreme caution should be taken when eating out as fast food hamburgers are typically made with high-fat ingredients to improve the flavor. Additionally, some hamburgers are "doubles," which means they have two meat patties rather than one. This results in twice the fat and twice the fat used to cook the meat. Hamburgers may also come with cheese, which is another contributor of saturated fat and cholesterol.
Egg and Sausage Biscuit
Egg and sausage biscuits contribute a triple threat and should be avoided. Eggs contribute to the cholesterol, sausage contributes to the saturated fat and cholesterol, and the biscuit contributes saturated and trans fat. The serving size for each biscuit is quite small, which increases the temptation to consume two servings. This choice is certainly one to stay away from.
