The Suzanne Somers Weight Loss Plan is a variation on the popular low-carbohydrate diets. The diet focuses on eating certain combinations of foods and following the "Seven Easy Steps to Somersizing."
History
Suzanne Somers is a television actress who came up with the diet on a trip to France, where she learned to eat groups of food together for better metabolism and digestion.
How It Works
There are two phases to the diet plan. Phase one focuses on weight loss by eliminating what Somers calls "funky foods" that are mostly high glycemic index foods. Phase two focuses on maintaining the weight loss.
Considerations
There is not much in terms of guidance for meal planning. The diet eliminates nutritious foods such as nuts, yogurt, bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin and avocados, and certain foods and food groups cannot be eaten together, such as protein and carbohydrates.
Benefits
There is no calorie counting, free access to an online community and a variety of foods. The diet focuses on fruits and vegetables as well as high-quality protein.
Cost
There are multiple books Suzanne Somers has written about her Somersizing Diet Plan, ranging from an average of $16.95 to $24.95 as of 2009.
