Atlantic City Boardwalk Activities

While Atlantic City is known as an adult playground, the boardwalk presents you with activities for all age groups. Since the boardwalk is more than four miles long, you can get cardiovascular exercise by walking or riding a bike. Spending time on the boardwalk offers you tourist attractions, combined with quick access to the beach, resorts and the Atlantic Ocean.

Aquarium

The Atlantic City Aquarium is one of the boardwalk attractions that you can access by foot or boat. Sea life that you can see at the aquarium include sharks, stingrays, clownfish, piranhas, soldier fish, angel fish, black sea bass, dogfish, eels, octopus, jellyfish, seahorses, live coral and sea turtles. The aquarium also features touch tanks, where you are given the opportunity to touch sharks, stingrays, hermit crabs, sea urchins, starfish and other small fish.

Amusement

Whether you are interested in rides or games, the boardwalk in Atlantic City has amusement park attractions for all age groups. Steel Pier is an amusement pier on the Atlantic City boardwalk, with amusement games, bumper cars, go-carts, a Tilt-A-Whirl, Ferris wheel, rock climbing wall and helicopter rides. Central Pier Arcade and Speedway is located on the boardwalk, with games and go-carts for you to choose from. Playcade Amusements is another boardwalk arcade, where you will find video games.

Museums

Features of museums that you will find on the boardwalk range from local history to a combination of education and entertainment. The Atlantic City Historical Museum displays artifacts of local significance, including Miss America memorabilia and historic footage that shows how the area has evolved. Ripley's Believe It or Not is a boardwalk museum that features unordinary exhibits in a building that looks like it is being demolished by a wrecking ball.

Music Venues

On the boardwalk you will find a variety of live music, from local musicians to entertainers who are known around the globe. Chicken Bone Beach is a historic boardwalk landmark in Atlantic City, where African Americans were segregated from 1900 until the 1950s. Today you can attend jazz concerts at Chicken Bone Beach. Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall is an arena along the boardwalk where you can see major concerts or professional hockey games.

Cultural Activities

Arts and attractions that are of local significance are another aspect of the Atlantic City boardwalk that you can explore. At the Atlantic City Art Center you can see the world of regional and national artists. The New Jersey Korean War Memorial is a cultural activity on the boardwalk that pays respect to Korean War veterans.
