Adding fat-burning ingredients into everyday, healthy foods can help boost your metabolism and promote weight loss. Fat burners function by oxidizing fats, suppressing the appetite and preventing the accumulation of fat in the liver, Nirali Prakashan states in "A Text Book of Nutrition for Nurses."

Cayenne Pepper

Thermogenic fat burners, like cayenne pepper, help to create heat and enhance the function of the metabolism, Prakashan states. This spice contains additional nutrients, including vitamin A, B and C, calcium, phosphorus and iron, Ann Gittleman explains in "The Fat Flush Foods." Its heat comes from a high concentration of capsicum, which increases blood flow and stimulates the body's metabolic rate that helps clean fat out of the arteries, Gittleman adds. She recommends using cayenne pepper liberally to taste every other day.

Ginger

Like cayenne pepper, ginger has thermogenic effects helpful in burning fat within the body. Ginger contains active ingredients structurally similar to capsaicin, Cynthia Phillips explains in "100 Ways to Supercharge Your Metabolism." This similarity, Phillips states, causes the metabolism to elevate, as the body must produce more work for digestion. The most appealing aspect of ginger is its other immense health benefits, which include lowering cholesterol, indigestion, cold and flu and nausea, according to Phyllis Balch in "Prescription for Herbal Healing." Balch recommends grating fresh ginger in salads, tea or other dishes to procure its benefits.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is the most natural of the vinegar varieties and can help boost the metabolism and burn fats, according to Cal Orey in "The Healing Powers of Vinegar." The primary ingredient of acetic acid in apple cider vinegar helps diminish carbohydrate metabolism. As a result, the body hinders the absorption of fats into the system. An additional benefit is apple cider vinegar's ability to lower blood sugar up to 30 percent, which results in low insulin levels. Due to its multiple health benefits, Orey recommends using apple cider vinegar as a vegetable dressing.
