Carnation manufactures a breakfast drink called Carnation Instant Breakfast Essentials. The drinks are available in powder and ready to drink beverages that are shelf stable. The powdered drink mixes are designed to be mixed with 1 cup of fat-free milk. All of the instant drink products contain a variety of vitamins and minerals as well as protein to create a nutritional supplement that can be consumed at breakfast or any time of day.
Powdered Drink Mix
Powdered drink mixes come in several flavors including rich milk chocolate, classic French vanilla, classic chocolate malt, dark chocolate and strawberry sensation. Ingredients vary slightly depending on the flavor chosen. The rich milk chocolate flavor includes nonfat milk, sugar, maltodextrin and cocoa. The powdered drink also includes dicalcium phosphate, carrageenan, soy lecithin and vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin A, niacin, iron, zinc, calcium, copper, manganese, vitamin B6, thiamin, vitamin K, biotin, folic acid and vitamin B12.
Ready to Drink Beverages
Bottled ready to drink Carnation Instant Breakfast Essentials Drinks are available in the same flavors as the powdered drink mixes. These drinks can be found in the breakfast food aisle. They contain many of the same ingredients as the powdered version with a few exceptions. In addition to the powdered drink ingredients, the ready to drink beverages include water, corn oil, magnesium, tricalcium phosphate, caramel color, barley, disodium phosphate, salt, potassium and sucralose.
No Sugar Added Powdered Drink Mix and Ready to Drink Beverages
Carnation created its Carnation Instant Breakfast Essentials powdered drink mixes and ready to drink beverages in a variety with no added sugar. These products contain the same vitamins and minerals but include two artificial sweeteners in place of sugar. Acesulfame potassium and sucralose sweeten these products in place of sugar. The addition of these ingredients prevents blood glucose from spiking, but individuals who are sensitive to these ingredients should consult their doctor for advice and recommendations.
