Econopred Plus Side Effects

Econopred Plus is a brand name of the generically named prednisolone for use in the human eyes. It has synthetic steroid qualities which decrease inflammation and swelling within the eyes. Using this medication prescribed by the ophthalmologist treats irritation caused by infection, allergies and ocular injuries, the website Drugs reports. Like all medicines, Econopred Plus can cause some side effects, although serious ones tend to be rare.

Cloudy Vision

Short-term cloudy vision may occur because of the consistency and translucency of the Econopred Plus liquid itself. Upon entering the eye, it can cause a film that typically disappears within minutes, the Mayo Clinic reports. The person may complain his vision is blurred and may need to sit down and wait for it to clear. Cloudy vision may not occur as a side effect once the person's body has become used to having the medication in it.

Photosensitivity

A person using Econopred Plus may notice a greater sensitivity to light, especially during the body's adjustment period to the medication. The drug helps to treat the inflammation of the eye when uses as prescribed by the doctor. While the medicine works, it may produce this adverse reaction, but physicians expect photosensitivity to disappear as the person uses Econopred Plus for a longer period.

Irritation

Eye irritation may occur because of the constriction of the blood vessels in the eyes reacting to the eye drops effect. The eyes may become sensitive and may feel as though a foreign body is lodged in them. A person may describe it as feeling like rocks or sand in the eye. Burning also may occur because of the healing effect as the anti-inflammatory eye drop works effectively to bring healing to the affected eye, the Drugs website reports.

Stinging

A person using Econopred Plus may complain of a stinging sensation each time she deposits drops of the medication in her eyes. This sensation, which may feel as though her eyes are on fire, the Drugs website reports, also generally ceases as she grows accustom to the medicine. While it occurs, it typically lasts only a few seconds. Using a cool wash cloth over the closed eyes will help decrease the effect.

Itching

Eye itching is part of the over all effect of the eye drop entering the eye and decreasing the irritation. A person's eye may sting, then itch, but for a few minutes only, in most cases. If this or any other side effect of Econopred Plus feels severe or does not end in a few days, the person using the the medicine should contact the physician for help.
