Calories are the units of energy found in all the food and drink you consume every day. Your body uses up these calories all the time, even during sleep.
Calorie Count
A study conducted at Vanderbilt University found that 10 to 15 minutes of sustained giggling burned 50 calories.
Benefits
The University of Maryland discovered that laughter "is linked to the healthy function of blood vessels" and Robert R. Provine, professor of psychology and neuroscience at the same university, found humor can "raise the level of infection-fighting antibodies in the body."
Considerations
Laughter must never be used as part of any exercise regime or serious attempt to lose weight. It would require an impossible 12 hours of laughter to lose a mere 1 lb. Controlling your weight requires a balance of healthy foods and a regular exercise plan. Laughing can contribute a small amount.
