The Huffy bicycle company gained notoriety in the 1940s after creating rear training wheels for young riders. The company began producing mountain bikes in the mid-1990s. According to Huffy, the five-time Olympic gold medalist Bonnie Blair, endorsed the first Huffy mountain bike in 1996. As of 2010, Huffy offers mountain bikes for all skill level of terrains. Assembling the essential components of your Huffy mountain bike will allow you to ride on rugged backwoods trails.

Step 1

Place the frame of your Huffy mountain bike onto a bike stand. Locate the two metallic wheel frames that have a circular shape. Identify the two tires that correspond with your Huffy mountain bike. Pinpoint a small valve that protrudes from the inside of each tire. Remove the small covers of the air valves.

Step 2

Stretch the deflated tires over the metallic rims of your bike. Insert the air valves through the circular openings found in the wheel frames. Place the hose of the bike pump over the first air valve. Inflate the first tire of your Huffy mountain bike using the handle of the air pump. Repeat the inflation process with the remaining tire.

Step 3

Locate the PSI number on the side of your tires to determine how many pounds per square inch of air they require. Insert the head of the tire pressure gauge onto each of the air valves. Examine the tire gauge reading to conclude if you have properly inflated tires. Release air from your tires by pressing down in the center of the air valve.

Step 4

Fasten one small cap over each of the air valves. Locate the vertical tube, known as the seat post, attached to the bottom of your bike seat. Identify the circular opening in the bike frame that houses the seat. Insert the seat post into the frame of your Huffy mountain bike. Lower the corresponding lever of your bike frame to fasten the seat post in place.

Step 5

Lift your Huffy mountain bike off the bike stand and place the two tires onto the ground. Sit on your bike seat to ensure it has been positioned at a correct height. Pedal forward slowly to guarantee the tires have been properly aligned. Make any necessary adjustments before taking your bike to the trail.
