One of the oldest candy bars on the market, a Milky Way bar consists of a creamy nougat center topped with caramel and covered in milk chocolate.

Features

According to the candy's official web site, each regular-sized Milky Way bar weighs 2.05 ounces and has 260 calories, including 90 calories from fat. The same sized bar also contains 10 g of fat, 7 g of saturated fat, 5 mg of cholesterol, 95 mg of sodium, 41 g of carbohydrates, 35 g of sugars and 2 g of protein.

Ingredients

The ingredients in a Milky Way candy bar include sugar, cocoa butter, skim milk, chocolate, lactose, milkfat, soy lecithin, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, skim milk, less than 2 perfcent milkfat, cocoa powder processed with alkali, lactose, malted barley, wheat flour, salt, egg whites and artificial flavor.

History

Frank Mars invented the Milky Way in 1923, making it the Mars company's first candy bar. Mars intended to capture the taste of a malted milk and sold the bar for 5 cents.
