Dry skin on your nose can make you self-conscious about your appearance, especially if it's so dry that it begins to flake. You might try to apply makeup to cover up the dry skin, but that only makes matters worse because the dry skin flakes grab onto the makeup, drawing even more attention to the problem. Applying a moisturizer on a regular basis can help eliminate dry skin.

Soaps

Depending upon the type of cleanser you use, it may cause you to have dry skin. This is especially true if you have sensitive skin. Harsh or abrasive cleansers can cause dry skin anywhere, whether it's on your nose, chin, cheeks or forehead, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Using hot water when you cleanse your face can also make dry skin worse, as the heat from the water causes moisture to leave your skin. The AAD recommends using a mild or hypoallergenic cleanser with lukewarm water to help relieve dry skin.

Products Containing Alcohol

Certain products, such as lotions or moisturizers, cleansers and cosmetics, may contain alcohol. Alcohol can dry out your skin, especially on delicate areas such as your nose. This is especially true for those who suffer from eczema, according to KidsHealth.org. Even using some baby products can cause dry skin.

Applying a moisturizer or facial lotion that does not contain alcohol can help relieve dry skin on your nose, especially if you apply it immediately after bathing or cleansing your face. Applying a moisturizer right after your bath can help lock in moisture absorbed from water.

The Weather

Certain elements such as dry air, cold weather and the sun can cause your skin to become dry, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. You can restore moisture back into the air by placing a humidifier in rooms where you spend the most time, such as your living room or bedroom. If you'll be spending a lot of time outdoors, make sure you're wearing appropriate gear such as a scarf in the winter or sunscreen in the summer.

This is very important, as your face is always exposed when outdoors. Acting appropriately to protect your skin can help keep it moist and hydrated.
