While a glass of wine with dinner could have health benefits such as reduced heart disease risk, drinking an entire bottle is not recommended. Aside from the high-calorie load -- which can easily lead to weight gain -- heavy drinking can damage your heart and liver, according to MedlinePlus. Women should limit alcohol intake to one or zero drinks per day, while men should have no more than two drinks per day.

Calorie Information

According to the Yellow Tail website, each 6-ounce glass of Shiraz contains 120 calories, which works out to about 20 calories per ounce. Yellow Tail Shiraz comes in two sizes: 750 milliliters and 1.5 liters, or about 25 ounces and 51 ounces. That works out to approximately 500 calories in the regular bottle, and 1,020 calories in the larger size. One recommended serving of wine is just 4 ounces, according to MedlinePlus, which would contain about 80 calories.
