Astringents constrict pores, reducing the amount of oil and sebum secreted onto the skin. Unlike some chemical astringents that can be harsh and leave your skin dry and flaky, green tea is natural and gentle. All you need are a few items that you likely will have in your kitchen and a few minutes of preparation time.
Step 1
Bring two cups of water to a boil. Carefully pour the water into a large bowl.
Step 2
Add three green tea bags to the bowl. Allow the green tea bags to seep in the bowl for two minutes.
Step 3
Remove the green tea bags and add 3 tbsp. of witch hazel to the tea, which according to "Prescription for Natural Cures," will work synergistically with the green tea, allowing it to work more effectively.
Step 4
Allow the green tea and witch hazel mixture to cool until it is tepid.
Step 5
Moisten a cotton ball with the green tea and witch hazel mixture. Apply the mixture to the face as an astringent.
